Hydrophilic Waterstops mean Hydro-Flex Brand

You already know the benefits and properties of the different waterstop selections. Not all hydrophilic waterstops are the same. Hydro-Flex expands into uneven areas and is made up of polypropylene elastomer, butyl rubber, plasticizers and hydrophilic fillers.

Synko-Flex brand products are mastic waterstops that is also unlike all others. It is uneffected by water and makes for tight seals even when applied in the rain. An expansive waterstop subjected to rain can make for uneven joints and cause damage to the structural integrity. Our product will never blow out the joint from stress.

There are many advantages to using Synko-Flex over expansive waterstops. Because mastic waterstops don't swell, they don't go through the swell and shrink cycles of hydrophilic waterstops. This is critical when facing rising and lowering water tables and running water at the joint. Expanding products can reach 100 percent of their volume but only once. Each time they shrink and swell again reduces its capacity to rise to the previous level.

With expanding products, 2" to 3" of clear cover is required at joint edges. This presents a problem when blueprint design calls for thin walls. Correct positioning by builders is important with hyrophilics because they can not be applied too close to the edge. This is not a problem with Synko-Flex, as it can be used anywhere, including outside the wall to protect steel from corrosion.

There are other advantages to this waterstop and other concrete form accessories. Cost being a primary inducement. It is about half the price of other waterstops and even PVC when labor costs are taken into consideration. You also do not have to incur the cost or time of adhesives since it has a bituminous base and adhesive qualities are part of its characteristics.
