PVC Waterstop Solutions

Which waterstop and size are dependant on design and intended use. PVC waterstop has one of the best waterstop specs and is most applicable in situations where masonry is under hydrolytic pressure. The thickness is relational to the hydrostatic head. To use or not use ribbing and bulb styles has some general applications. Center bulb type is applicable when doing expansion or construction joints expecting movement. Dumbell types as well as no center bulb ribbed styles should be employed in locations where joint movement is not expected. Split waterstop works well in bulk head formation. Splicing requires waterstop irons.

When doing a splice on the NSF certified waterstop, it is imperative the iron not reach 400 degrees because the PVC will degrade. Hotter temperatures are used for splicing TPER. Our TPER waterstop is available in the same profiles as our PVC.

The NSF is an independant non-profit organization which sets the standards for consumer safety in many areas. For waterstop products it is termed "Standard 61". BoMetals only manufactures NSF certified waterstop.

The NSF International has been in existence since 1944 and establishes recognized minimum standards for entire industries involved in food or water. That includes plumbing, food equipment, bottled water, treatment plants, etc.

Waterstops are used extensively in many areas of construction and PVC waterstop is but one product. Standard 61 applies to waterstops used where water is intended to be potable, as in water treatment plants. Other related standards refer to individual water units, as in home filtration systems.
