Waterstop for Concrete Construction: an Imperative

A PVC waterstop is a strip of poly vinyl chloride with the same purpose as the other two but has different applications when it comes to being a waterstop for concrete construction. These venues, as you can see, provide for continuous water flow and exposure to not only water but often other chemicals and gases. The PVC is usually flat and ribbed.

Basically, what separates the different waterproofing products is where they will be used and whether it will be subject to movement or remain stationary.

TPER is thermoplastic Elastomeric Rubber. This is a chemically resistive waterstop used for tight diaphragms in above and below ground primary, secondary and tertiary containment facilities. It is for chemicals deemed hazardous by the EPA such as jet fuel, hot petro-chemicals, solvents and more. BoMetals TPER is available in widths up to 12 inches in a number of profiles. Installation is critical to prevent failure and most of the problems occur when the waterstop needs to change direction. Proper technique and attention to detail can prevent improper welds.
