PRO-SLOT™ Anchor Slot is a stay-in-place concrete form used in forming a channel into the face of any cast in place wall or column. By installing Dovetail Anchors into the PRO-SLOT™, you can then anchor brick, block or stone to the concrete surface.

Materials

BoMetals galvanized PRO-SLOT™ Anchor Slot is manufactured of G60 hot dipped mill galvanized steel in 26/28, 24, 22, 20 and 18 gage. PRO-SLOT™ is offered standard in 10′ lengths with custom lengths available on a special order basis. BoMetals PRO-SLOT™ is standard with a polystyrene foam filler to keep the channel clear of concrete and resist closure due to hydraulic pressure. It is also available without a polystyrene foam. PRO-SLOT™ incorporates continuous nail grooves along the back edge of the profile to help in nailing the slot to the forms.

Dovetail Anchors are manufactured in 16 gauge hot dipped, galvanized steel and are furnished in 3 1/2″, 5 1/2″ and 7 1/2″ lengths with a 1″ overall width.

Advantages

      • PRO-SLOTTM Anchor Slot and Dovetail Anchors provide a permanent, fast, flexible and cost effective method of anchoring brick, stone and block to cast-in-place concrete walls and columns.
      • PRO-SLOTTM provides an excellent anchoring system for both cast-in-place and precast concrete.
      • With a heavy, galvanized coating to prevent corrosion, Dovetail Anchors have deep corrugations to increase pull out strength.

Installation Instructions

      • Nail BoMetals PRO-SLOTTM anchor slot to the inside of the form wall prior to erection. Install vertically spacing the channels 16″, 18″, or 24″ on center. Use the nail grooves to speed up installation and space nails of 12″ center.
      • Dovetail Anchors should be spaced as indicated on drawings or called for in specifications or as recommended by local building codes. Typically anchors are spaced 12″ to 16″ vertically.

Highway Center Strip Drawing

Highway Center Strip is manufactured of 20 gauge, hot dipped, galvanized steel by BoMetals, Inc., in Carrollton, GA. It is furnished in 10′ lengths for 5″, 6″, 7″, 8″, 9″ and 10″ slabs. Each piece is punched on 6″ centers with dowel rod knockouts and each piece is punched on 12″ centers with slots for the interface of supporting stakes. Computer controlled production assures that dowel knockouts and stake slots never interfere with each other. Center Strip Stakes are manufactured from 16 gauge HRPO steel available in 15″, 18″ and 24″ lengths.

Installation

Highway Center Strip Chart

      • Space joints as indicated on drawings, as called for in specifications or as recommended by either ACI or PCA.
      • With elevation checked by instrument, stretch a line the length of the joint below the finished elevation for stake placements.
      • Place the 10′ sections along the line end to end. The stake slots are 12″ on center and act as a simple template for stake placement.
      • Install intermediate stakes on 2′ center … 5 stakes per 10′ section. Additional stakes shall be used with the remaining slots for support if soil conditions require.
      • With continuous placement, concrete shall be placed to full depth simultaneously on both sides of joint.
      • Finish the concrete flush insuring the concrete fills key without void or honeycomb.

Recess Key Product LineBoMetals RECESS KEY Product Line is used to make a key in the concrete to provide load transfer across the concrete joint.

BoMetals is proud to announce that we have 3 different types of Recess Key. The main differences between the designs is dowel spacing and hole vs knockout. All the different designs will have the same style profile as you see in Figure A.

Available in Black, Grey or White, and can be used in all standard concrete construction applications.  It is widely used and accepted in residential, commercial and industrial construction.

Installation

      • Your setup is all the same, no special equipment is required.

      • Install using spray on adhesive, mechanical fastners, or depending on the surface simply smack it with a hammer.
      • Finish the concrete as you normally would
      • If the joint will not be sealed then you’re done, if it will be sealed, utilize the peel top feature to create the sealant cavity.

The main usage is to prevent the passage of liquids in concrete joints in many different projects such as Dams, Tunnels, Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants, and other liquid retaining structures.     TPER Waterstops from BoMetals

    BoMetals, inc. TPER Waterstops play a critical part in providing a fluid tight diaphragm in secondary and tertiary above and below ground containment facilities. This is accomplished by offering a product for concrete joints that greatly expands its resistance to hot petro-chemicals, solvents, aqueous acids and other chemicals listed as hazardous by the EPA.

    BoMetals, inc. manufactures TPER Waterstop from a specially formulated Thermoplastic Vulicanizate which is fully cross-linked compound. This product will assure an owner of a facility that requires containment, for environmentally sensitive materials, a reliable and easy to install product. BoMetals’ TPER Waterstop is available in a wide variety of profiles up to 12 inches wide.

    Cracking in block walls normally results from restrained movement. This movement may originate within a building material due to temperature change or shrinkage, or may result from movement of adjacent building elements. In most cases, movement is inevitable and must be accounted for during design if cracking is to be controlled. BoMetals Control joints, when placed in concrete masonry walls, are an excellent method of crack control.

    Control joints are vertical separations built into a concrete masonry wall to reduce restraint and permit longitudinal movement. They are located where cracking is likely to occur due to excessive tensile stress.

    Control joints are typically located at

          • wall openings
          • changes in wall height or thickness
          • construction joints in foundations, roofs and floors
          • wall intersections
          • a distance of not over one-half the allowable joint spacing from all corners
          • a determined spacing for the length of the wall

    For walls without openings, control joints are used to effectively divide a wall into a series of isolated panels.

    Preparation

    Weep TubesDuring progress of work all weep tubes shall be protected from damage and should be free of oil, dirt and concrete spatter. Weep Tubes should be kept free from internal obstructions. Broken or damaged weep tubes should not be used. All weep tubes shall be placed to insure that they are correctly positioned in the masonry joint to guarantee air movement from the cavity to the outside of the wall. Typical placement would be for the one end of the weep tube to be flush with the outside of the joint and the opposite end to project into the cavity of the wall. Typical locations would be no greater than 24″ on center. Care should be taken during mortar placement to prevent excessive movement of the weep tubes to insure against displacement. Always thoroughly and systematically inspect mortar around the weep tubes to make certain that the weep tube is free from obstruction.

    Block CapsTo help control costs, block caps are used to close off the cells that do not require the grout in a vertical reinforcing system.

    Block Caps are preformed metal inserts that sturdily lock between concrete block voids to stop grout infiltration into the vertical cells that do not use reinforcing.

    The grout must flow into some vertical cells to bond the blocks with the reinforcing members anchored in the foundation. Therefore, block caps and bond beams are typically used in wall systems that have a combination of vertical and horizontal reinforcement. This highly reinforced wall system is common where buildings must withstand high wind loads.

      Available in Black, Grey or White, and can be used in all standard concrete construction applications.  It is widely used and accepted in residential, commercial and industrial construction.

      Installation

            • Your setup is all the same, no special equipment is required.
            • Simply install Non-Cross Linked Foam with the peel strip either up or down, depending on if the joint will be sealed or not.
            • Install using spray on adhesive, mechanical fastners, or depending on the surface simply smack it with a hammer.
            • Finish the concrete as you normally would
            • If the joint will not be sealed then you’re done, if it will be sealed, utilize the peel top feature to create the sealant cavity.
